That same year, she completed a group of new paintings and from 1975 they were exhibited regularly. She collaborated with architect Bill Katz in 1974 on a log cabin she would use as her studio. She did not paint for seven years and consciously distanced herself from the social life and social events that brought other artists into the public eye. In both New Mexico homes, she built adobe brick structures herself. After Martin left New York, she drove about the western US and Canada, deciding to settle in Cuba, New Mexico for a few years (1968-1977), then settled in Galisteo, New Mexico (1977-1993). In 1967, Reinhardt died and the studio at Coenties Slip was slated for demolition. In 1961 Martin contributed a brief introduction to a brochure for her friend Lenore Tawney's first solo exhibition, the only occasion on which she wrote on the work of a fellow artist. Another close friend and mentor was Ad Reinhardt. Barnett Newman actively promoted Martin's work, and helped install Martin's exhibitions at Betty Parsons Gallery beginning in the late 1950's. That year, she settled in Coenties Slip in lower Manhattan, where her friends and neighbors, several of whom were also affiliated with Parsons, included Robert Indiana, Ellsworth Kelly, and Jack Youngerman. She moved to New York City after being discovered by the artist/gallery owner Betty Parsons in 1957. Her work is most closely associated with Taos, with some of her early work visibly inspired by the desert environment of New Mexico. Jaleh Mansoor, an art historian, states that Martin was "too engaged in a feminist relation to practice, perhaps, to objectify and label it as such". She often employed an intersectional feminist lens when she critiqued fellow artists' work. ![]() They never occur without happiness."Ī pioneer of her time, Agnes Martin never publicly expressed her sexuality, but has been described as a 'closeted homosexual' (sic). In an interview in 1989, discussing her life and her painting, Agnes Martin said, "Beauty and perfection are the same. Many of her paintings bear very positive names such as “Happy Holiday” (1999) and “I Love the Whole World” (2000). She was publicly known to have schizophrenia, once opting for electric shock therapy for treatment. In 1993 she moved to a retirement residence in Taos, New Mexico, where she lived until her death in 2004. She built an adobe home for herself in each location. After eighteen months on the road, Martin settled in Cuba, New Mexico (1968-1977), and then Galisteo, New Mexico (1977-1993). She left New York City in 1967, disappearing from the art world to live alone. She moved to New York City in 1957 and lived in a loft in Coenties Slip in lower Manhattan. It's not an only-bts thing, it's the fate that unfortunately every group from unknown companies have to face. but a lot of groups go through the same thing and are still facing these hardships. I think we shouldn't discredit them, it's true that at some point they almost disbanded, it's true that they had a hard time to make some money and promote their music, it's true that they had people insult them and telling them they're not gonna make it right in front of them, it's true that they had their songs cut from shows, it's true that they were falsely accused of things they never did. I believe as fans we tend to take everything at heart and exaggerate when we talk about our faves, BigHit too can't go one year without promoting their humble beginnings. They do a lot of covers to keep their fans fed and they go busking on the streets, but still no recognition or whatsoever. They never had props for their stages, they were able to decorate the stage just with this comeback (nothing huge but still), they even tried to participate in survival shows like The Unit and Mixnine, and one member even made it in the final line up of the group, but UNB was not promoted well and they disbanded before people even knew they were a thing so at the end of the day, they gained nothing from it. ![]() ![]() This group debuted in 2017, and just with this latest comeback they were finally allowed to perform their entire song without cutting out pieces of it, they were never invited to shows like Weekly Idol or any other variety show so they try to compensate with a lot of vlives and try to be as much entertaining as possible. I noticed BigHit is also pushing TXT a lot in Japan, I guess they prioritize Japan a lot in their marketing decisions but it definitely payed off.Īlso, now that I started stanning a different nugu group who's company was created just for them (so no connections to any market prior to their debut) I can definitely see the difference. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that by the time BTS debuted BigHit had already created strong relations and connections with the Japanese market, that's why BTS got a fast recognition there. Before BTS I used to stan Glam, the first girl group under BigHit that officially disbanded in 2015 but was pretty much inactive since BTS's debut, what I can tell you for sure is that BigHit focused a lot on the Japanese market with Glam, they even played a role on Vocaloid, one of the biggest Japanese projects, with the introduction of the first Korean vocaloid ("SeeU" who's voice actor was a member of Glam Dahee, I was a huge otaku and through Glam I was introduced to kpop). the movie becomes a scary reminder devices have over us.īetween the two Child’s Play movies, there’s a ton of changes that were made! Above all else, the changes in the times in the last 30 years. Because this Chucky can sync up to the cloud and control webcams, cars, air conditioning, phones, televisions, etc. New technology is what’s going into the hands of kids today, so it makes complete sense for the franchise to update with an A.I. Since the original Child’s Play came out, dolls aren’t as popular of a toy anymore among children. Is it really just lifelessness behind the eyes of our toys or do they have souls? It does what Toy Story accomplishes with bringing more life and personality to everyday toys and objects, but with a much more sinister message behind it. There’s a certain paranoia we have after witnessing young Andy cuddle up to a serial killer in the body of a “harmless” doll. The original Child’s Play really makes us question and fear dolls such as Chucky. (Image credit: (Orion)) The Fears The Movies Tap Into His murders may be out of control, but they actually have a legitimate reason behind them that audiences understand. This Chucky starts off as an innocent (albeit twisted) child who just wants to love and be loved. It’s his purpose he was programmed to carry out, but because all his limits on violence and such are turned off, he reverts to some crazy antics in order to “please” Andy and make sure the two can be together. doll, he really does want to be Andy’s best friend. The new one establishes a much more sympathetic Chucky. When he learns that the only way to become human again is to kill the first human he’s touched, he goes back to murder young Andy. When he’s turned into the doll, his motivations are to finish what he started and kill the victims he has his sights set on. In the original Child’s Play, Chucky is established as an all-around bad guy that should already be dead for all of his horrible crimes. (Image credit: (Orion)) Chucky’s Motivations For Murder Andy underestimates Chucky because he thinks of him as a “kids” doll, but this ups the scare factor when Chucky really shows him what he’s capable of. This Andy is more central to the story and we watch more closely as they form an unlikely bond with each other. ![]() She nabs it for free after someone returns it from the store she works at. ![]() The 2019 version has Andy being played by a 13-year-old who receives the doll as a joke from his mom ( Aubrey Plaza) but also because he’s a lonely child. Chucky whispers things into Andy’s ear about where to take him or what to say, and because the film is from the perspective of the mom and the cop, we’re more removed from this boy’s interactions with him until later in the story. With Andy being such a young age, it’s terrifying to see him hug, sleep with and befriend the serial killer doll. ![]() In the first movie, he’s a seven-year-old boy who so desperately wants a “Good Guy” doll that his mother scrapes for a discounted one off a peddler to make him happy. ![]() (Image credit: (Orion)) His ‘Best Friend’ AndyĪnother difference between the two movies is the age of the boy who is given the doll for his birthday, Andy. ![]() The quicktime video assets will work on all operating systems. Since this is a bit more in-depth with a lot of copy and pasting, I highly suggest you read through it starting from "Install Deluge BitTorrent on Ubuntu 20.04 Server". After that I followed the guide on Linux Babe to setup the service. Basically what I did though was just add the deluge-team stable PPA repository, did an apt update, and installed deluged, deluge-web, and deluge-console. I'd suggest looking at linuxbabe's guide here for a bit more information. The official documentation for installing Deluge on linux is here, however it's pretty bare bones. I haven't run into any issues with it so far. Note, Sonarr mentions that its group should be the same as the others, but the script seems to do it differently so *shrug*. GID should be replaced with a unique ID and GROUP_NAME with whatever the group name is. This just creates the group, without it the script seemed to have an error about not having a group with the proper name. Note though that I'm fairly certain you have to first create a group for whatever service you're wanting to run. sh file like it says, copy and paste the text into it, and then bash it. So I used this installation script that they recommended by the community. It seemed like Servarr was highly encouraging people to use the community installation script despite it being "unofficial". I'm sure there are better ways of doing it, but that's just how I did it. With the credentials being what you use for access to the share, and "noperm" allowing you to not need permission to read/write to it. After some research it looked like I was needing the "noperm" attribute for the mount. Originally I ran into an issue with Sonarr not having proper access to my SMB share. It was a pretty straightforward with just a few commands, not much to really explain here. (I tried with them and it caused an error.) I then followed those instructions, skipping the optional Mono and MediaInfo dependencies. To do this I went to the Sonarr website download section under linux. I'm also using Deluge with NordVPN as a proxy. I'm running Ubuntu 22.04 in a VM on ESXi and I mounted a SMB share from FreeNAS to both the 'arr' VM that has the stack on it and my 'Jellyfin' VM. Really clear math lessons (pre-algebra, algebra, precalculus), cool math games, online graphing calculators, geometry art, fractals, polyhedra, parents and teachers areas too. I have just recently gotten a Switch copy of the Celeste Team's "Celeste," and saw the reference to the original game, and had looked up PICO-8 out of curiosity, and have been browsing the forums for a while, but when seeing this forum, I remembered unwittingly playing some PICO-8 games (Slipways, P.Craft, Just One Boss, and Dark Tomb) after remembering seeing them on both CoolMath and here. I believe that they have committed two crimes. Slipways is a simplified 4X space strategy game developed by Beetlewing Studios that combines space grand strategy with trading puzzles. (The latter being minor.) So, I've decided to share this information to those who want it. Slipways was released on June 3rd, 2021 for 16.99 USD, plus regional prices in non-US countries. The game is currently limited to PC and Mac. So this game looks the same a Slipways on Coolmath games just not pixels is it Showing 1 - 1 of 1 comments. This is my first big comment on the PICO-8 forums, so I think that I might as well introduce myself with a pop. Kinda, afaik, they're both made by the same guy and this is simply a vastly expanded and refined version of that pixelated version. (Not a bang, as it is a pop.) I also might be (or have been) seen playing other games as "TheTepigMaster," "TheTepigMaster456," "TepigMaster," "Thomulous Weaver," "TheTepigMaster21," and "Damian Naimad." I love the engine and all the absolutely AMAZING work people have put into these games. In 2021, I finally came to appreciate the Hitman games, although part of appreciating them is realizing how little they’ve progressed since their latest model.I hope to someday, when I get a bit older, to get a copy of PICO-8 and/or Voxatron. But it’s also just more levels for Hitman I, so this would easily make my list of top ten games of 2016. When it came to roguelikes, I enjoyed Returnal’s dark sci-fi/horror aesthetic despite my inability to get past Housemarque’s trademark “get good” barrier. Imagine Earth was a smartly focused planetary development game based on head to head competition with other players. Although unlike a boardgame, it’s hard to read, and not just because the developers thought it would be cute to make you spin a 3D globe instead of look at a map. Remember, developers, 3D globes are never a good idea. The goofy excesses of Outriders and Necromunda: Hired Gun were my gunplay of choice in 2021. Halo Infinite was a welcome change, focusing on what it does best in a sandbox instead of in corridors (at least until the end), with easily skippable cutscenes and multiplayer I can ignore because if Halo players are mad at it, I’m sure not going to want to play it. Speaking of, I have no intention of buying whatever iPad alternatives Microsoft is pushing, so I wish they would stop saddling games with godawful tablet interfaces in an attempt to get me to buy some dumb hardware. Jamming big square panels onto Age of Empires IV, Forza Horizon 5, and Halo: Infinite just reminds me that these games are published by the same people who thought the Kinect was a good idea. ![]() I was disappointed with Deathloop, a massive step backwards from the Mooncrash DLC for Prey that inspired it. ![]() Those springing for a diesel-equipped Equinox will have to deal with a healthy price premium. It's a fine crossover with a comfortable interior and plenty of usable tech features, but those looking for the option of adaptive cruise control and other driver's aids as standard equipment will be disappointed. My top of the line Premier AWD tester starts at $34,435, but add in a $3,300 package for the sunroof, 19-inch wheels, navigation and Bose HD radio, plus destination, and that jumps to $39,045. The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox starts at $23,580, but remember, the only advanced safety feature you get with that base model is a backup camera. I would also wait for the introduction of the larger, 2.0-liter engine, but no word from Chevrolet as to when that might happen. This adds the 8-inch touchscreen, heated front seats and blind spot monitoring. I would spec the Equinox with the mid-LT trim and shell out $1,995 for the Sun and Infotainment package. It's a technology I would have hated as a teenager, but as a grumpy adult I love it. Later, the parent or other responsible party can access the report card with a PIN number to see how the kid is doing. When a young driver starts the Equinox with the designated key, Teen Driver will not play any audio until all occupants are buckled in and it won't allow the driver to disable any safety settings. Spy timeĪs mentioned earlier, the Teen Driver technology is a great way to monitor the habits of younger, less experienced drivers in the family. If your phone is out of a service area, chances are the car won't be getting a signal either. The hotspot is easy to connect to, but keep in mind, it's just a way to get the internet to your devices. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Infotainment system is one of the best on the market today, especially when displayed on the available 8-inch touchscreen. ![]() The Honda CR-V has lane departure alert and mitigation, adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring standard on all but the lowest trim level. Toyota Safety Sense is standard across all trim levels of the RAV4 and includes lane departure alert and mitigation, adaptive cruise control and precollision braking. Much of the competition out-does Chevrolet in terms of standard advanced safety systems and driver's aids. That also brings along a few extras like a power lift gate (which can open fully or just to 75 percent at the touch of a button) and dual-zone climate control. The midrange LT trim only offers blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as part of the $1,945 comfort and convenience package. While Chevrolet offers the lower L and LS trims with a backup camera, it doesn't include any advanced camera and radar-based safety elements like forward collision alert and automatic braking, either standard or as options. And you'll have to pay extra for most advanced safety features, if they are even offered at all. Speaking of buzzkill, adaptive cruise control is not available on any trim line. According the EPA, the Equinox Diesel returns 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg with front-wheel drive for 577-miles of cruising range. The only clear diesel giveaway is how slowly the fuel needle drops. Besides some clank at start up, it is difficult to audibly tell that there is a diesel under the hood. Designers use this time to tease out as much context and background as possible to fully understand their client’s company or organization, its values, business, brand attributes, etc. The discovery phase is the “question” phase. We’ll outline why each phase is important, the series of actions or steps you need to take, and the final deliverable you’re working toward-which you’ll need for the next phase. ![]() While every designer’s process looks different, the one we’re going to guide you through has five phases:Įvery phase has its own goal, process and deliverable. To do this right, you’ll want to work in phases. Remember that the logo is only part of a larger visual system, and its individual pieces all need to work together. Be prepared to do more thinking and decision-making than drawing. But the lion’s share of the work is strategic, especially at the beginning. Yes, you will have to create something visual at some point. Here are two things to keep in mind as we dive in: Now that we’re clear on what a logo can and can’t do, let’s start the design process. The best logo in the world can’t save a corrupt business, nor can the worst logo hold back an honest one. Two Men and a Truck is a billion-dollar company, and its logo is a stick figure drawing designed on a napkin by the founders’ mother. ![]() Enron’s logo was good, but the company’s ethical code wasn’t. Your logo isn’t going to make or break your business. They’re just one image within a larger visual system that includes your colors, typography, photography, visuals, layout, etc. When new companies or organizations request a logo, a good designer will say, “You don’t just need a logo, you need a brand identity.” Logos are part of the picture, but they’re not the entire thing. Your brand is built from a thousand touchpoints with your customers-not from a logo. Your brand is intangible it’s your reputation-what people think of when they hear your name, what they tell others about you and how you make them feel. This is a common conflation, but your logo isn’t your brand. So remember, a logo may play an important role, but it isn’t everything. All three of our designers agreed most people put too much stock in logos (nerdy design pun intended). In fact, most companies struggling to decide on a logo are simply asking too much of it. One caveat is that even though a logo can convey a deeper meaning, it doesn’t have to. The smiley arrow communicates that the company sells everything from “A-Z” and also represents how happy customers are when they shop with them. Your logo can also be an opportunity to make a statement about your organization. It also functions as the face of your business. It’s how your company is recognized and remembered among others. ![]() In its simplest definition, a logo identifies. After all, we all know what a logo is.Ī logo is a symbol or design used to identify a company or organization, as well as its products, services, employees, etc. This question probably conjures up vivid images of a famous swoosh or an apple with a bite taken out of it. ![]() If you don’t see a personalisation section, you can always message the seller with your request too. ![]() ![]() Some sellers on Etsy also offer personalized, made-to-order items in case you’ve found something you love but want to make it even more uniquely yours.
